Event Description

Fall 2026 Hamilton-in-NYC Program – The Natural History and Urban Ecology of Manhattan with Prof. Pat Reynolds (preynold@hamilton.edu)Open to students in the classes of 2027 and 2028. ALL concentrations welcome. Up to two credits toward Biology and Environmental Studies programs.

Take advantage of a unique off-campus study program that will forever change your perspective on New York and all major urban centers. Learn about the NYC environment, and experience the diverse cultural offerings of the city, all while working at an internship in your area of interest!  New York City is widely recognized as a global capital and represents the quintessential urban landscape. But the city is also a hub of biological diversity—a meeting point of native and non-native species in a mix of natural and constructed habitats, far removed from conventional notions of “nature.” This program offers an in-depth exploration of New York City through an ecological lens while examining how New York City manages its urban landscape in the face of environmental challenges.
