Event Description

Join us for some Word Play at the fourth annual Poetry & Pastries evening of multilingual poetry! We invite readers from all walks of Hamilton to contribute, in all world languages.   Submission deadline is Friday, October 30   Living is experimenting.  —Georgia O’Keeffe

From whimsical linguistic games and untranslatable idioms to bold experiments that defy traditional syntax, poetry thrives when language is set free to reinvent itself. We invite poets, translators, and poetry enthusiasts from all linguistic backgrounds to share or perform works centered on the theme of play, curiosity, and innovation.  

We welcome submissions (via this form) of existing poems and original compositions related (but not limited) to the following themes and forms:

Curiosity and innovation

Playing with linguistic norms

Poetry from popular culture (lyrics & quotes)

Rewriting/reimagining a classic

Humor & pastiche

Dada & Surrealism

Oulipo

Science & poetry

Music & theater
