An article co-authored by Robert Kantrowitz ’82, the Marjorie and Robert W. McEwen Professor of Mathematics, appears in the April 2023 issue of the international research journal Rendiconti del Circolo Matematico di Palermo.

“A unifying view of some Banach algebras,” by Robert Kantrowitz ’82, the Marjorie and Robert W. McEwen Professor of Mathematics, was recently published in The Australian Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications.

Hamilton students take on unique projects that reflect their talents and interests. In many cases, they collaborate with faculty mentors on this work, which often leads to co-authored papers, joint presentations at professional conferences, and professors mentoring students during academic competitions. Ten Hamilton faculty members were approved for tenure by the College’s Board of Trustees at its March meeting. They include Ryan Carter (music), Jose Ceniceros (mathematics), Alexsia Chan (government), Justin Clark (philosophy), Matt Grace (sociology), Tom Helmuth ‘09 (computer science), Natalie Nannas (biology), Colin Quinn (anthropology), Anne Valente (literature and creative writing), and Keelah Williams (psychology).

Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus was an invited speaker at the Joint Mathematics Meeting (JMM) that took place recently in Boston, and several Mathematics faculty members and students presented research.

A research article jointly authored by Samuel F. Pratt Professor of Mathematics Debra Boutin and William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Mathematics Sally Cockburn appeared in the Wilfred Imrich Issue of The Art of Applied and Discrete Mathematics.

Assistant Professor of Mathematics Jose Ceniceros recently presented “Quandle coloring of topological circuits” as an invited lecture at the Circuit Topology 2022 symposium.

Debra Boutin, the Samuel F. Pratt Professor of Mathematics, recently published a research article "Paint cost and the frugal distinguishing number," in a special issue of The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics.

Associate Professor of Mathematics Courtney Gibbons is one of 300 members of the 50th anniversary Science & Technology Policy Fellowship cohort. Her fellowship began in September.
