  • Hamilton Microfinance hosted a bake sale and raised $836 at the 20th Sacerdote Great Names Lecture featuring astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson on April 12. Every year, the Great Names event attracts thousands of students, staff and community members.

  • For the second year, Hamilton students served as mentors to Clinton Middle School students who are participating in Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA).  OVA is a state-wide competition where middle schoolers have the opportunity to participate in longer term art projects outside of the classroom.

  • To celebrate NCAA Division III Week, Hamilton’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a mini-golf event in the Field House on April 10. More than 100 students  along with faculty and staff and their families participated.

  • Student organization Global Outreach Hamilton, a part of the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP), took nine students and two faculty members to the Caribbean island of Nevis to work with the St. Kitts- and Nevis-based non-profit organization Operation Future during the second week of spring break. Emily Rubinstein '16, one of the trip's organizers, shares this reflection.

  • Members of the Global Volunteers organization will be volunteering with non-profit agencies on the Caribbean island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, from March 19-26.

  •  Among the Levitt Center’s programs aimed at connecting Hamilton students with the Utica community are Project SHINE and VITA. SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) is a service learning program in which Hamilton students tutor refugees and immigrants learning English. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) offers free tax help to families who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Hamilton students become certified volunteer tax preparers through the IRS.

  • The 19th annual America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk drew 77 Hamilton College walkers and runners on Saturday, March 5, in Utica.  This year’s donations are still being counted, but thus far Team Hamilton has raised $3,914 for the American Heart Association.

  • The Hamilton community this week welcomed Everson Hull, ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Organization of American States, to meet with students and faculty involved with the upcoming spring break service trip to the island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. The trip will be led by a Hamilton student service organization with support from Amy James and the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP).
