Professor of Religious Studies Heidi Ravven recently presented the keynote address for the international colloquium on “The Role of the Exemplar in Arendt and Spinoza” at University of Malmö in Sweden.

A book review by Heidi Ravven, the Bates and Benjamin Professor of Classical and Religious Studies, was recently published on H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online.

President Joan Hinde Stewart recently announced the appointment of eight Hamilton faculty members to endowed chairs.  Doug Ambrose (history),  Brian Collett (physics), Martine Guyot-Bender (French), Gordon Jones (physics), Tim Kelly (mathematics), Heidi Ravven (religious studies), Patrick Reynolds (biology) and Michael “Doc” Woods (music) received appointments. All are effective July 1.

Seven Hamilton faculty members were recognized for their research and creative successes with the Dean’s Scholarly Achievement Awards, presented by Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds on Class & Charter Day on May 12. The awards recognize individual accomplishment but reflect a richness and depth of scholarship and creative activity across the entire faculty.

Heidi Ravven, professor of religious studies, gave an invited lecture, “The Self Beyond Itself Rethinking How Individuals Can Become Morally More Courageous and Societies More Humane,” on Sept. 23 at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.

Professor of Religious Studies Heidi M. Ravven has been appointed to the Advisory Editorial Board of the Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (JSCI). She will be responsible for advising and editorial activities in two areas – neurophilosophy and ethics.
