  • More than 60 Oneida County service providers and officials met Tuesday (1/30) at Hamilton College as part of the "Communities That Care" initiative.

  • Hamilton College associate professor of Government Philip Klinkner was quoted in a Buffalo News article, "Taking the Reins." The article dealt with the emphasis placed on Bush's inauguration address to the nation.

  • Thomas Diggins, visiting assistant professor of biology, published a paper, "Evidence of large change in unionid mussel abundance from selective muskrat predation, as inferred by shell remains left on shore." The paper, co-authored with K.M. Stewart of SUNY Buffalo, appeared in the December 2000 issues of International Review of Hydrobiology.

  • The Hamilton NY2K student group conducted a survey to study young people's attitudes about politics; the findings were released Thurs., 10/26 in Washington, D.C.

  • "Cynical" is a word often used to describe the political attitude of young Americans. But when asked if they thought politicians were corrupt or dishonest, New Yorkers ages 18-24, were much more optimistic than their peers nationwide.

  • Jinnie Garrett, professor of biology at Hamilton College, has received a three-year renewal on her grant "Yeast Amino Acid Permeases." The National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, Academic Research Enhancement Award, is for $151,000.

  • Douglas Raybeck, professor of anthropology at Hamilton College, conducts research in cross-species communication.

  • University of Chicago professor, Jean Bethke Elshtain, will lecture at Hamilton College on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel, as part of an initiative on Religion and Public Affairs.
