  • Susan H. Frey '84 will return to campus for her 25th reunion in June; however, before she can make the trip to College Hill, she will lead her own trek with 20 Hamilton friends at the Thoreau Institute at the Walden Woods Project in Lincoln, MA. Susan, with the support of the Hamilton College Alumni Association of Boston, has invited Hamilton alumni, parents and friends to join her on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Walden Pond for a 2 mile hike where she will offer commentary on the natural history of the Pond as well as the most famous denizen of Walden Woods, Henry David Thoreau.

  • After the first period whistle blew, the Hamilton College Men's Ice Hockey Team dropped the rivalry with Middlebury College for a short 10 minute break when both teams, all coaches and all fans in attendance honored former Hamilton Ice Hockey Coach Phil Grady. After a 24 year career at Hamilton College, Phil Grady announced his retirement in 2008 after successfully winning his 300th career win and becoming the 17th Coach in NCAA Division III history to reach the milestone.

  • Barbara Stein, K'72, received a Frank Withrow Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training (NCTET) at NCTET's 2009 Bytes & Books Inaugural Ball on January 20, 2009 at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.  The award was in honor of Barbara's exemplary effort in advancing education and technology for almost 30 years.

  • By day, David Kleinbaum '62 is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. By night, he acts the part of a jazz flutist. As the bandleader for the Moonlighters Jazz Band, located in Atlanta, GA, David plays in an eight piece jazz band with a female vocalist. His fellow musicians have heavy credentials as they have played with notable musicians Stan Kenton, Herbie Mann and Natalie Cole. David's next gig will occur on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Red Light Café, located at 553 Amsterdam Avenue.   After spending an evening with the Atlanta Alumni Association for the annual Alexander Hamilton Birthday Party in early January, David was encouraged to invite his Hamilton friends and family to the 8 p.m. performance. The Red Light Cafe has a $9 cover charge, but for live entertainment, David claims "(it's) such a deal!"

  • In an attempt to find another way to communicate with Hamilton alumni, New York City GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Co-chair Zach Kubin '05 recently created a Young Alumni Blog. The blog, aimed to inform Hamilton College Alumni living in NYC of upcoming events, College updates or individual updates, was created so that the region, which has the largest young alumni population in the nation with nearly 900 constituents, has a home page that directly relates to young alumni's interests and needs. The blog will not replace the Hamilton website or HOLAC; rather, it will serve as another venue for GOLD alumni living in NYC to receive information, ask questions, provide feedback in various surveys or simply learn more about the GOLD network in NYC.

  • Nearly 60 alumni and friends of Hamilton Swimming and Diving reunited this past weekend for the Third Annual Friends of Hamilton Swimming and Diving Reunion.  Alumni arrived as early as Friday afternoon to take advantage of the weekend events on the Hill. Things kicked-off Friday night with a performance by this year's Sacerdote Great Names Speaker and host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show Jon Stewart. Stewart's sharp-witted comedy had the audience in stitches and set the tone for a memorable FHSD reunion.

  • Moving to Chicago after graduating from Hamilton College, Allison Krutal '06 first fell in love with the Midwest after she traveled with the Hamilton College Choir during its annual spring tour. Since 2006, Allison has enjoyed the windy city thanks to the vibrant city life, her continued education in psychology and the new friendships she has made after life on the Hill. However, her experience on the Hill has continued to play a large role in her social life as she plans quarterly social hours with Hamilton friends. Hosting a happy hour in Chicago on November 14, Allison was joined by 11 GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) alumni. Allison reports "the event that I hosted was quite successful... about 11 people come out, including several who I did not know previously. I was very happy."

  • The Hamilton College Wall Street Association will hold its Fall 2008 meeting at the Penn Club of New York on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. The night will feature Stephen Sadove '73, P'07, '10, chairman and CEO of Saks Incorporated, who will share his thoughts and insights about the current state of the retail sector and corresponding impact the economic downturn has had upon it. In the past, this incredibly popular event, created by Brendan McCormick '01, has provided a unique networking opportunity for members of the Hamilton community interested in finance and promises to do so again this November.

  • Running a total of 64 miles, 13 members of the Philadelphia Alumni Association gathered at the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum on Sunday, August 24, 2008 in honor of Run for the Fallen, a cross-country run honoring the men and women who have lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Organized by Jon Bellona '03, Run for the Fallen included a group of Hamilton Alumni and Friends who ran more than 4,000 miles across the United States, beginning on June 14, 2008 in California and ending at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday, August 24, 2008. 

  • The Hamilton College Wall Street Association will host a panel discussion of the U.S. economy with experts from private equity, real estate, commodities and academia on Thursday, June 26, at 6 p.m. at the Racquet and Tennis Club in Manhattan. Greg Hoogkamp '82, a Hamilton College trustee and a managing director at Goldman Sachs & Co., will moderate the discussion with panelists Robert V. Delaney, Jr. '79, partner with Crestview Partners; Adam I. Popper '87, managing director at Beacon Capital Partners; J. Robert Collins Jr., founder and managing partner of the 1.618 Group and former president of the New York Mercantile Exchange; and James Bradfield, the Hamilton College Elias W. Leavenworth Professor of Economics.
