Steven Tepper was inaugurated as Hamilton’s 21st president on Sept. 28, acknowledging in his remarks the College as a creative campus for more than two centuries and challenging the Hamilton community “to design a future for the campus that allows us to leverage this history, to expand opportunities, to create national differentiation, and to lead.”

Alex Kim ’25, a music and math double-major, spent his summer exploring machine learning and music through the help of an Emerson grant. With the guidance of Assistant Professor of Music Charlotte Botha, Kim developed a vocal register classification tool through machine learning models.

Forty-five new faculty members have entered Hamilton’s ranks, including nine tenure-track professors in anthropology, art, computer science, dance and movement studies, economics, government, mathematics and statistics, music, and Russian. They join 31 visiting professors and lecturers, and four teaching fellows for the 2024-25 academic year.

Following a national search, Vice President for Enrollment Management John McLaughlin has announced that Jacob Browne has been named executive director of admission. Browne will join Hamilton on Oct. 1 from Eckerd College, where he serves as dean of admission.

Hamilton College’s Levitt Center is ground zero for research opportunities on campus. Aimed at encouraging students to combine their academic ambition with practical, hands-on, research, the Levitt Research Fellows Program is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into their interests. Students are awarded a research grant and collaborate closely with a faculty advisor for up to 10 weeks, then prepare a presentation and submit a paper in the fall.
