Crossroads — a point at which one must make a decision that could have critical and potentially lasting consequences. Like others throughout the country, this is where many on Hamilton’s campus found themselves in the weeks leading up to the November election.

Members of Hamilton’s Class of 2024 have walked off the Commencement stage, canes in hand, and out into the world ready to make a difference.

Senior class president Felix Tager ’23 spent a busy summer in Washington, D.C., pursuing two internships. He worked with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s (PCRM) nutrition program and ran communications for Yadira Caraveo, the Democratic House of Representative nominee for the new Colorado district (CO-8).

Alumnus Greg Thomas ’81, founder of Tune in to Leadership, interviewed President David Wippman recently for the organization’s s blog on the challenge of Covid-19 and racial justice issues.

Keith Ruggles ’20 is a longtime Hamilton Outing Club leader and officer, Adirondack Adventure orientation leader, and student writer for the Communications office. Here, he tells how the training he’s received as an outdoor leader has been valuable in helping him manage the uncertain current environment.

Manal Ataya ’01 has been awarded the Chevaliers de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the ambassador of France to the UAE. The Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters is an award presented by the French ministry of culture.

During the second week of spring break, a group of nine Hamilton students and Professor Margo Okazawa-Rey attended a student activist leadership retreat at the Highlander Research and Education Center in New Market, Tenn. The Highlander Center is an 85-year-old popular education center that works with grassroots organizing and movement-building across the U.S. South and Appalachia to promote sustainability, social and economic justice, and equity.

He promises to work with the Hamilton community “to make this wonderful college, this splendid and special place, ever more splendid and special.”
