At Hamilton’s annual Class & Charter Day convocation on May 13, 144 students were honored with academic prizes and scholarships, and faculty teaching award recipients were recognized. Delbert “Del” Gonzalez ’25 was awarded the James Soper Merrill Prize, and Mohammad “Isa” Khan ’26 received the Fillius Drown Prize Scholarship. Associate Professor of Philosophy Justin Clark served as the keynote speaker.

Although students have only been back on campus for a month-and-a-half, they've been busy attending conferences, presenting research and enjoying experiential learning opportunities.

As snow falls on Hamilton’s campus, many students take the opportunity to try a new winter activity: cross-country skiing. Students can rent skis from the Glen House and take them out on the cross-country ski course, located behind the Taylor Science Center. With heavy snow, this course requires maintenance to ensure a safe place for beginner skiers, and that maintenance requires time and fuel.

Alex Kim ’25, a music and math double-major, spent his summer exploring machine learning and music through the help of an Emerson grant. With the guidance of Assistant Professor of Music Charlotte Botha, Kim developed a vocal register classification tool through machine learning models.
