Assistant Professor of Biology Peter Guiden is working with Maddie Vavra ’23 and Becky Rosen ’22 to better understand the biology of trees that are native to Central New York. The trees grown in the science center greenhouse will eventually be planted on campus as part of the effort to conserve and restore biodiversity there.

With Earth Day approaching on April 22, student organizations are coming together to increase awareness about environmental issues and celebrate our planet. Participating organizations include the Hamilton Sustainability Coordinators, Voices of Color Lecture Series, Hamilton Sunrise Movement, Shenandoah Kirkland Initiative, and La Vanguardia.

This year, Earth Day got a whole lot of love. Hamilton Sustainability Coordinators (HSC) decided that this year, Earth Day could not just be celebrated on April 22. Hence, “Green Week.” From April 20-26, they hosted Green Week, a week-long series of events to honor our planet and bring attention to environmental issues.

The Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) is holding its annual Green Week celebration from April 22-27. Green Week is designed to promote sustainability and campus engagement in conservation efforts, and will feature daily events open to the entire Hamilton community.

Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) is inviting the Hamilton community to join together to celebrate the Earth and make a difference during Green Week, which kicks off on Monday, April 18, and will continue through next weekend. Green Week is HEAG’s biggest project of the semester, and will feature at least one new event every day.

The Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG), launched this semester's campaign to encourage sustainability and raise environmental awareness within the Hamilton community on September 21. The campaign, known as Green Week, was designed both to promote a sense of individual environmental responsibility and to educate students and faculty members to environmental problems on campus that have global implications.

Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) Green Week continues on Sept. 22 with a lecture by Professor of Biology Ernest Williams at 7:30 p.m. in Glen House. Williams will discuss his environmental involvement around Hamilton and the Utica area.

Hamilton's Environmental Action Group (HEAG) is sponsoring a number of activities to celebrate Green Week, Sept 29-Oct. 3.  To start things off on Monday, Sept. 29, HEAG is hosting a lecture, "Colony Collapse Disorder in Honey Bees: The Tip of the Iceberg," by Dr. John P. Burand, associate professor of entomology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
