  • Assistant Professor of Biology Peter Guiden is working with Maddie Vavra ’23 and Becky Rosen ’22 to better understand the biology of trees that are native to Central New York. The trees grown in the science center greenhouse will eventually be planted on campus as part of the effort to conserve and restore biodiversity there.

  • With Earth Day approaching on April 22, student organizations are coming together to increase awareness about environmental issues and celebrate our planet. Participating organizations include the Hamilton Sustainability Coordinators, Voices of Color Lecture Series, Hamilton Sunrise Movement, Shenandoah Kirkland Initiative, and La Vanguardia.

  • This year, Earth Day got a whole lot of love. Hamilton Sustainability Coordinators (HSC) decided that this year, Earth Day could not just be celebrated on April 22. Hence, “Green Week.” From April 20-26, they hosted Green Week, a week-long series of events to honor our planet and bring attention to environmental issues.

Burand, associate professor of entomology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
