Hamilton College Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Suzanne Keen has appointed Professor Penny Yee as the next associate dean of faculty effective July 1. She will replace Associate Dean and Professor of Literature Onno Oerlemans, who will resume teaching full time in the Literature and Creative Writing Department after a year’s sabbatical.

The American Council on Education (ACE) recently named Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor of Psychology Penny Yee an ACE Fellow for academic year 2018-19.

While many people recognize the value of a college education, not all appreciate the art behind educating. The Hamilton community has been fostering dialogues this year as part of the inaugural Talk About Teaching (TAT) series. Associate Dean of Faculty Penny Yee, who helps coordinate the variety of events, described the purpose of the series as “drawing attention to the practice of teaching at the college.” The events take place across campus, with noontime gatherings almost every Tuesday.

Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds announced that Professor of Psychology Penny Yee has accepted the position of Associate Dean of Faculty, with particular responsibilities for curricular matters, for a three-year term starting July 1. 

Rapidly becoming a cult classic, Mean Girls gives its viewers more than a wildly entertaining movie experience: it offers a front row seat to the effects of relational aggression. Initially thought to be present mostly in middle- and high-school girls, relational aggression has been found in almost all demographics. Working under Professors of Psychology Gregory Pierce and Penny Yee, Liz Chapin ’12, Carolyn Dopp ’11 and Danielle Mortorano ’12 have been testing new ways to measure relational aggression.
