  • Evan Smith was recently featured in the major Texas newspaper, as he has been the paper’s editor since 2001. The article describes how Smith is “aggressively” attempting to make the notoriously “white” publication more diversified. Smith wanted to be a politician, but ended up attending Northwestern University for graduate school, earning a degree in journalism. Smith claims that he will publish more Hispanic writers; not only is it good for business, he notes, but it is good to get different perspectives and views in such a widely read paper.

  • Federal and New York State Income Tax forms are available in Burke Library (ext. 4735). The Library has the standard forms and instructions available. Unfortunately, the complete reproducible federal forms have been delayed this year, but the library expects them to be available by the end of February.

  • Tim Berbenich '02 has been hired by the New York Jets football organization as an offensive assistant. He interned for the Club as an operations intern during training camps from 2000-2001.

  • Peter Hinks, professor of history, was among six historians featured on Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) on Sunday, Feb. 9. The 90-minute program, "Slavery and Freedom in New England," was based on a national conference of the same name that was recently hosted by The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition at YCIAS.

  • The Monk Rowe Trio kicked off the Oneida Public Library's "America in the Jazz Age Winter Jubilee" on Feb. 8. The Monk Rowe Trio performed 1920s-era jazz and blues, with saxophonist Rowe, bassist Genevieve Rose and drummer Greg Caputo. Rowe, director of the Hamilton College Jazz Archive, also appeared solo at the library on Feb. 23.
