Muggles in the village of Clinton will have the rare opportunity to brandish their wands Oct. 24-25 while they tour the majestic Hogwarts Castle, brought to life by students at Hamilton College. "Hogwarts at Hamilton," an event sponsored by the College and organized by student actors and actresses, transforms Emerson Hall into a magical place of spells and potions. Admission is free to the public; however, any donations the club receives directly support the Kirkland Town Library.

Professor of French John C. O'Neal recently finished his second term as president of the Northeast American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies at the annual meeting held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Oct. 31-Nov 2. O'Neal had served previously as president of this society in 1992-1993. At the Geneva conference, he organized a session on ambiguity in the politics, literature, and history of the Enlightenment. He also presided over the meeting of the executive board and the general assembly of members during the banquet.

Gen Flanders '09 and Meredith FitzPatrick '11 delivered all-region performances as they helped Hamilton to an eighth place finish at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championship at St. Lawrence's 6,000-meter Robert C. Hoffman Cross Country Course on Nov. 15.

Scott MacDonald made four presentations in the Bay Area during the week of Nov. 17 in conjunction with his new book Canyon Cinema: The Life and Times. He lectured on Canyon Cinema and then presented films by filmmakers crucial to the 50-year-old Bay Area institution on Friday and Saturday evenings at Canyon Cinema's screening room in San Francisco, on Sunday evening at the San Francisco Cinematheque and on Tuesday evening at the Pacific Film Archive at the University of California at Berkeley.

Nearly 60 alumni and friends of Hamilton Swimming and Diving reunited this past weekend for the Third Annual Friends of Hamilton Swimming and Diving Reunion. Alumni arrived as early as Friday afternoon to take advantage of the weekend events on the Hill.
