Former Hamilton College women’s basketball player Ashley Merriman ’98 is starring as a contestant on Bravo’s television show, Top Chef: Las Vegas.

Top Chef is in its sixth season on Bravo. It features 17 aspiring chefs who compete for the title of “Top Chef.” Each week the chefs take part in challenges that test everything from their basic abilities in the kitchen to their versatility and inventiveness. Every week there is also an elimination challenge.

Currently, the show has aired six episodes of the season, and Merriman is still in the running for the title of Top Chef.  Top Chef: Las Vegas runs a new episode every Wednesday night at 10 p.m.

Merriman, who is a native of Center Sandwich, N.H., attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City after she graduated from Hamilton. She worked to establish her career at a New York City restaurant called Butter. She now resides in Seattle, Wash., where she spent time working at the restaurant Tilth. Currently she works as a chef at Branzino in Seattle.

Merriman was a four-year letter winner at Hamilton. In her senior season, she led the Continentals with 245 points and 202 rebounds, and tied for the team lead with 10 blocks. In her career, she scored 774 points, grabbed 645 rebounds and was credited with 110 assists.
