Frank Anechiarico ’71, the Maynard-Knox Professor of Government and Law, was invited to address delegates to the Third Annual Conference on Governance, Crime and Justice Statistics in Merida, Mexico, June 5-10. The meeting was sponsored by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.
Anechiarico presented “Measurement Driven Corruption Vulnerability.” The paper focused on his research on police administration in London, New York City and Stockholm. It proposed a broader definition of corruption in terms of democratic values and considered the way that performance is measured in large public agencies can lead to a displacement of the service goals in those agencies.
