Mary Beth Barth, director of the Critical Languages Program and Language Center, presented Teaching the LCTLs (Less Commonly Taught Languages) at the Northeast Association of Language Learning and Technology (NEALLT) Conference in March at Carnegie Mellon University. She has served as president of NEALLT and conference host.


In November Barth presented New Roles, New Courses:  Language Programs and Campus Internationalization at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in Denver, Colo., and New Technologies, New Directions:  Language Resource Centers at the International Association of Language Learning and Technology in July at UC Irvine.


Barth was selected as project facilitator for the Council of Independent Colleges W. M. Keck Foundation's three-year grant for the Network for Effective Language Learning. It involved a selection process narrowed down to 20 colleges comprised of four-member teams for week-long intensive technology and pedagogy workshops.


She has served as president and is a long-time and current board member of the National Association of Self-Instructional Languages.
