
Hamilton College exploded for ten runs in the first inning and cruised to a 23-9 win against Macalester College at Florida College on March 21.
The Continentals (2-7 overall) snapped a seven-game losing streak with the seven-inning victory. Hamilton concludes its Florida trip with a game against North Central College at St. Leo College in St. Leo, Fla., on Tuesday, March 22. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Pat McGarry '07 hit a grand slam and finished with five runs batted in. John Porges '07 whacked a three-run homer and ended up with four RBI. Both players went 2-for-4 at the plate. Dan Hood '08 enjoyed a 3-for-4 day offensively. Matt Hartnett '07, Andrew D'Amico '08 and Patrick Suarez '07 collected two hits each. Suarez also drew three walks, scored four runs and drove in three. Bryden Considine '08 pitched the first six innings to pick up the first victory of his collegiate career.
The Continentals added seven runs in the top of the second inning and another in the third. After a five-run fifth inning, Hamilton led 23-3. The Continentals finished with 16 hits and made just one error. Macalester (3-5) had 14 hits and committed five errors. Hamilton was swept by Trinity College in a doubleheader on Sunday. The scores were 22-0 and 11-5.
