Sewanee held a 5-1 lead after four innings and cruised to a 16-4 win against Hamilton College at Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven, Fla., on March 18.

Hamilton fell to 2-2 with its second straight loss. Sewanee -- also known as the University of the South and located in Tennessee -- improved its record to 5-9.

Joe Buicko '11 went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs. Alex Augustyn '10 and Justin Atwood '11 posted two hits and one RBI apiece. Gideon Clark '09 added two hits and scored a run. Matt Mancini '10 cracked a double.

Four Hamilton pitchers combined to allow 17 hits, 11 walks and one hit batsman. After a scoreless first inning, Sewanee brought two runners home in the top of the second. Hamilton closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the third only to have the Tigers answer with three runs in the top of the fourth for a 5-1 lead.

The teams traded two-run frames in the fifth, but Sewanee pulled away with one run in the sixth and three in the seventh for an 11-3 advantage. The Tigers put the game out of reach with a five-run ninth inning. Hamilton managed 11 hits in the loss, but committed four errors.

Hamilton starter Donovan Flint '11 allowed four earned runs in his 3.1 innings on the mound. Flint surrendered just three hits but walked eight. Stephen Wright '12 took over in the fourth and was relieved by Zak Cohen '09 in the eighth. Grady Vigneau '10 came in for the ninth inning.

Hamilton faces Worcester State College at Chain of Lakes Park on Thursday, March 19.
