 Debra Boutin

Debra Boutin, the Samuel F. Pratt Professor of Mathematics, gave an invited talk titled "Determining Number and Cost of Distinguishing Graphs" at the Virginia Commonwealth University Discrete Mathematics Seminar.

Boutin gave an overview of the topics of graph determining number and cost of distinguishing graphs. In both areas she gave definitions, intuitive examples, common techniques, lists of current results. She also discussed common variations on each topic and open areas for research. Boutin concluded by showing the strong connections between determining sets and the cost of distinguishing graphs.
