Forty-five members of the Class of 2022 and eight transfer students beat the forecasted winter storm and arrived on the Hill on Jan. 18 to register, move in and take part in new student orientation. Hamilton offers January admission to about 30 to 40 students per year to fill vacancies created by students on leave and studying abroad.
After moving into their residence halls, students and their families attended a luncheon with a welcome and remarks by President David Wippman, Dean of Admission Peaches Valdes, Dean of Faculty Suzanne Keen, and Dean of Students Terry Martinez. Later on Friday, they took part in matriculation, where they signed the official College Register at this annual and historic Hamilton tradition.
Over the next four days, the “Jans” and transfers will meet with residence hall advisors, learn about the curriculum, and consult with their academic advisors. They’ll also relax with a movie night, have dinner with faculty and orientation leaders, and play Big Prize Bingo. Spring semester classes begin for all students on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
