Associate Professor of Mathematics Sally Cockburn gave a talk at the recent Canadian Discrete and Algorithmic Mathematics Conference in Victoria, B.C., on May 30. The title of her presentation was "Permutations and Geometric Realizations of K_{2,n}", based on research she did at the University of Victoria while on sabbatical leave in the spring of 2010. The work relates the geometrical properties of crossing edges in a drawings of the complete bipartite graph and combinatorial properties of inversions in permutations.
