“Cooperatives and Employee Ownership,” co-authored by Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, was recently published online in the International Encyclopedia of Civil Society from Springer.
Written with Panu Kalmi of Finland’s University of Vaasa, the article describes historical aspects of cooperatives and how they compare to employee-owned firms. Jones and Kalmi also discuss some of the issues related to the formation, survival, and life cycle of such firms.
