Assistant Professor of Mathematics Courtney Gibbons is teaching “Contemporary Mathematics” this summer as part of the Mohawk Consortium College-in-Prison program (MCC).
The program, organized by Walcott-Bartlett Chair of Ethics and Christian Evidences and Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Doran Larson in 2014, gives incarcerated people at Mohawk Correction Facility the opportunity to earn an associate’s degree from Herkimer County Community College.
Colgate University and Hamilton each provide two faculty members to teach in the program each year; additional faculty are provided by Herkimer County Community College. MCC held its first commencement in December.
