Hamilton College wrapped up its crew seasons at the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference/National Invitational Rowing Championships on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday.

In a field of 26 schools, the Continentals tied for 12th place in the combined team point standings, which encompass the men’s and women’s performances. The meet also serves as the NESCAC Championships as the women’s team placed sixth and the men’s team finished seventh.
Hamilton’s top outcome came from its women’s second varsity 8. The Continentals took fourth in the first of three heats and then won the six-team petite final. Hamilton finished the petite final in 7:12.358, topping Ithaca College (7:15.062). Ithaca, which had finished nearly five seconds ahead of Hamilton in the first heat, was one of 11 nationally ranked teams at the championships.
The Continentals’ third varsity 8 took second in the petite final, where their time of 7:38.056 trailed only Tufts University’s time of 7:34.900. Hamilton had placed fifth in the first of two heats.
In women’s varsity 8 competition, Hamilton took fourth place in a six-team heat and finished fourth in the six-team petite final.
On the men’s side, Hamilton’s varsity 8 opened racing with a seventh place finish in the first of three heats and defeated Tufts in a two-team consolation final. The second varsity 8 took sixth place in its heat and finished sixth in the final consolation race.
