Assistant Professor of Digital Arts Anna Huff was recently awarded a 2022 Media Arts Assistance Fund (MAAF) for Artists grant to help fund the completion of a project titled “How We Touch the Light.” The project is a joint effort by Huff and Fawn Krieger, who work collaboratively as “Volumes.”
The announcement was made by the nonprofit arts organization Wave Farm. “How We Touch the Light” is described in the award announcement as “scanned sculptures placed in the UNITY game engine, [that] become protagonists and active collaborators in a live and simultaneously mediated/broadcast musical performance.”
In March, Huff and Kreiger presented a preview of their work in progress at New York gallery Hesse Flatow.
The MAAF, in a regrant partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts, supports both individual artists and electronic media and film organizations in New York. Grants to individual artists provide “support for the completion and/or public presentation of new works in all genres of sound and moving image art, including emergent technology,” according to the announcement.
