Eugene Domack, the Joel W. Johnson Family Professor of Geosciences, has been named to the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS) Polar Research Vessel Committee, which will plan the progress for a new Polar Research Vessel (PRV) for the U.S. Antarctic Program. The committee will be comprised of up to 12 people who represent various marine research disciplines as well as maritime technical experts.
UNOLS has been tasked by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to establish a committee to review science mission requirements identified during the PRV study completed in 2006. Through consultation with the research community, the committee will assess whether existing PRV science mission requirements meet current and emerging needs for polar research.
