Nationally ranked Skidmore College erased an early 1-0 deficit against Hamilton College with two goals just 18 seconds apart in the first half and went on to a 3-1 victory at Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 22.
Skidmore improved to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in the Liberty League with the win. The 18th-ranked Thoroughbreds are tied for third in the league standings and have clinched a spot in the league playoffs. Hamilton (1-5, 1-12) has lost four straight games and has now played four nationally ranked teams this year.
The Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal from Jess Goldberg '08 with 20:36 left in the first half. Goldberg leads Hamilton with three goals.
Skidmore tied the score on a penalty corner with 16:46 remaining in the half when Annie Ledyard '06 scored her 10th goal this year. Julie Lutz '05 and Alison Starrett '07 were credited with their fourth and sixth assists of the season, respectively. Shaila Delea '08 gave the Thoroughbreds the lead for good just 18 seconds later on her first goal of the year. Emily Clark '06 clinched the victory with her fourth goal with 21:56 left in regulation. Katie Weber '07 recorded her team-high eighth assist on Clark's goal.
Megan McAdams '08 made three saves for Skidmore and Polly Noble '05 stopped three shots in the second half for the Continentals. The Thoroughbreds held a slim 11-9 advantage in shots.
Hamilton will play its final game of the season against Union College at home on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m.
