CLINTON, N.Y. – Emily Gambir '07 (Darien, CT/Darien) scored the first two goals of her collegiate career to help lead Hamilton College to a 5-0 win against Nazareth College in a non-conference field hockey game at Campus Road Athletic Field on Oct. 14.
Hamilton (3-8) has won its last two games by a combined score of 8-0 after enduring eight straight losses. Nazareth dropped to 2-10 overall.
The Continentals scored four first-half goals in a span of less than 11 minutes. Gambir put Hamilton on the scoreboard with 24:37 remaining in the opening half. Eden Self '04 (Rochester, NY/Groton School) picked up the first of her four assists on Gambir's first goal. Self made it 2-0 just 1:25 later on an assist from Amy Mills '04 (Amesbury, MA/Amesbury).
Gambir and Self hooked up again for a 3-0 lead with 20:51 left. Erin Turcot '04 (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) made it 4-0 with 13:53 remaining on Self's third assist. Self picked up her fourth assist when she fed Lauren Hayden '07 (Charlotte, VT/Champlain Valley Union) for Hayden's third goal of the year with 25:45 left in the game.
Sarah Baldwin '04 (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) made five saves to secure her second straight shutout. Heather Sautter '05 (Marathon, NY/Marathon) also had five saves for the Golden Flyers. The Continentals enjoyed a 12-6 advantage in shots.
Hamilton will play another non-conference game at SUNY Oneonta on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
