This Friday's Think Tank will feature a discussion about the conflict between immigration policy and welfare policy. Featured speaker for the talk, which begins at 12 noon in KJ 222, will be Economics Professor Paul Hagstrom. Lunch will be provided.  Think Tank is sponsored by the Levitt Center.

Hagstrom says, "In the 1990s the U.S. accepted more immigrants than in recent decades. At the same time we severely limited immigrant access to public assistance. Refugees are an exception. They have the same access to welfare as U.S. citizens. Yet, since 1996, welfare participation among refugees has dropped faster than for any other group. What message are refugees hearing?"
