Brian Williams '04 qualified for the U.S. Amateur

Brian Williams, a 2004 Hamilton College graduate, was one of three players to qualify for the 2004 U.S. Amateur golf tournament at a 36-hole local qualifier held at Seven Oaks Golf Club on July 26.

Williams shot a two-round total of 145 (73-72) at the par-72 Robert Trent Jones designed layout to finish tied for second place.

Williams was selected to participate in the 2004 NCAA championships, where he finished in a tie for 58th place. He earned New England Small College Athletic Conference player of the year honors after he won the individual title by shooting a one-under-par round of 70 at the conference championships. Williams was medalist at Middlebury College's Duke Nelson Invitational and tied for first in two other tournaments during the 2003-04 season. His scoring average was 76.4 in 21 rounds.

Williams is now eligible for the U.S. Amateur to be held at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., August 16-22. For ticket information click on the following link: http://www.2004usamateur.com.
