Hamilton College's radio station, WHCL-FM 88.7, is back on the air. The station is operating as an independent, educational, non-profit radio station, featuring noncommercial music, sports, social programs, public affairs and news programming, and jazz on Sundays.

Approximately 120 Hamilton students are involved with WHCL in various capacities. The station currently operates only during the academic year but students are hoping to broadcast at least a limited program during the summer.

General Manager Keith Brown said "We have made the switch from a mixed bag of mainstream and indie (independent label) music to a format fully devoted to indie."

Brown added, "We are in the final stages of developing a Real Audio capability to broadcast all over the world to anyone with Internet access through our new website, www.WHCL.org. This will give WHCL an unprecedented ability to reach alumni, parents and prospective students. We will be broadcasting our entire program over the Internet, including Hamilton football, basketball and hockey games." Brown expects the WHCL web site to be operating by Monday, Feb. 21.

WHCL is housed in the Bristol Campus Center at Hamilton.
