The Hamilton College men's tennis team opened the dual-match portion of its season with a 5-4 win at SUNY Oneonta Thursday.
The Continentals fought back to go 4-2 in singles play after the host Red Dragons (0-2 overall) had taken two of the three doubles contests. Alex Streich '18 led the way, rallying from a set down to win at fifth singles after teaming with Austin Lokre ’16 for a win at second doubles.
Jack Vissicchio '17 also recovered from dropping his first set, winning his fourth flight singles match. Vissicchio's outcome clinched the victory, as the team score was tied at 4-4 and his match was the last to finish. Jonathan Cohen '17 (third) and Matthew Haas ’19 (sixth) won in straight sets. Cohen's triumph tied the team score at 4-4.
The Continentals wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next weekend (Sept. 25-27) at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Vassar.
