About 60 Hamilton students and staff members participated in the annual America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk on Saturday, March 7, at Utica College. These volunteers joined a group of some 8,500 people in walking and running between three and five miles. The annual event raises money and awareness for the American Heart Association and its fight against heart disease and stroke. Hamilton has fielded a team for many years. Hamilton team captains were Colleen Pellman, John O'Neal and Ernest Williams.
Pellman said "We won't know the actual amount raised until late spring, but we expect that it will be comparable to last year which was $5200. We had great weather and it was a great day!"
The Heart Run/Walk is the American Heart Association's premier fund raiser. Over its 10 year history, the Heart Run/ Walk has raised more than $360,000,000. All proceeds raised through the Heart Run/Walk support the American Heart Association's cardiovascular research, education, advocacy and community service programs in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the nation's number-one and number-three causes of death.
