Hamilton community members joined with other local colleges in a rally to support refugees in Utica.

Hamilton was well represented at a Refugee Solidarity Rally in Utica on Feb. 10. The rally was organized as a way to stand in solidarity with the refugee population in Utica, and with those around the world affected by recent national events.

The Spiritual Inquiry Group sponsored Hamilton’s participation with transportation funded by Student Assembly.  Utica College, MVCC, Colgate, and members of the community also took part.

“The rally gave me the opportunity to connect with my friends, Hamilton college community members and the people of Utica for a cause that we all cared about and empowered me to be more involved in the local community,” said Hersheena Rajaram ’19. Rajaram is founder of Hamilton student organization On the Move. On The Move aims to build and maintain a strong relationship between Hamilton and the Utica refugee community.
