Several Hamilton faculty and staff recently spent a week in Albuquerque, N.M., at the National Academic Advising Association’s (NACADA) Academic Advising Summer Institute.
The group included Silas D. Childs Professor in Agricultural Chemistry Karen Brewer, Special Advisor to the President on Experiential Learning Margaret Gentry, Associate Dean of Faculty and Associate Professor of Anthropology Nathan Goodale, Associate Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Psychology Tara McKee, and Associate Director of Career Development Janine Oliver.
They participated in sessions and workshops about effective advising practices and planning to create an integrated advising network, which is an initiative in Hamilton’s Strategic Plan.
The institute provided the team with an opportunity to develop a customized action plan focused on better integrating academic, career, and student life advising with the variety of other resources available to students.
