Although college seniors are likely the group most focused on obtaining a job, Hamilton’s Career Center has programs in place that help guide underclassmen to those careers. One example is HamiltonExplore, a career shadowing program designed to assist sophomore students with career exploration and decision making by offering the opportunity to “shadow” (observe) a Hamilton alumnus/a or parent in the workplace for a day or part of a day. By observing the nature of the work first-hand and asking questions of the alum/parent sponsor, students acquire insight into a career field and determine the suitability of that career.

2012 marked the second year of this successful venture, with 145 sponsors being shadowed and 101 students completing HamiltonExplore. Watch this video to learn why this is a great program from students and sponsors.
