Thirty-five Hamilton students are teaching Spanish to third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Clinton Elementary. The Hamilton students participated in a two-day training workshop before starting to volunteer in February. They volunteer in groups and work closely with the Clinton students to help them improve their language skills and gain an appreciation for foreign languages. Hispanic Studies Teaching Fellow Maria Gabriela Portal and Elisabeth MacColl ’16 run the program, which will continue throughout the semester.

The spring 2014 volunteers are Elisa MacColl, Danny Erichson, David Curtis, Sarah Goldman, Brandon DeGraff, Sarah Wallack, Jeanette Parra, Samantha Lynch, Alex Kaplan, Savannah Alvarado, Ashleigh Stephan, Martin Lavalle, Sarah Bowler, Emily Morris, Leslie Campos, Ellie Kiernan, Kateri Boucher, Evelyn Torsher, Njideka Ofolera, Caroline Harrington, Bryan Ferguson, Ana Sophia Garces, Katie Kiesel, Melissa Yow, Emily Hess, Barbara Perego, Sam Mengual, Jessica Weston, Daniel Reyes, Amelia Heller, Linsday Heyer, Mayeline Fernandez, Amanda Hernandez, Katherine Rogers and Annel Monsalvo.
