Assistant Professor of Philsophy Marianne Janack will be guest lecturer at the next Humanities Forum, on Monday, March 11, at 4:10 p.m. in the Red Pit. Her topic is "On Wonder," or, "How to Make a Philosophical Problem Out of Melting Wax." Her presentation is designed for an interdisciplinary audience.

Janack will present readings of the "hidden" workings of emotion in Descartes and Plato, focusing on the ways in which emotion sets the stage for philosophical inquiry. Her paper aims to provide a feminist philosophical account of emotion that can serve as an alternative to feminist philosophical debates about the "cognitive" nature of emotion and its role vis-à-vis rationality.

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
