Professor of Economics Emerita Betsy Jensen coIndustrial Organization cover - Betsy Jensen-authored the 6th edition of Industrial Organization: Theory and Practice, published recently by Routledge. Her co-authors were Don Waldman of Colgate University and Qi Ge ’06, Jensen’s former student and now an associate professor of economics at Vassar College. Jensen and Waldman previously co-authored earlier editions of the book, from the 1st edition, published in 1998, through the 5th, published in 2019.

The latest edition of the book is described by the publisher as blending “a rigorous theoretical introduction to industrial organization with empirical evidence, real-world applications, and case studies.” This, along with the range of theoretical and applied problems and exercises it provides, makes it “one of the leading undergraduate texts on industrial organization,” according to the description.

Reviewer Wei Zhang (Northern Illinois University) said, “I have been using Waldman and Jensen for my undergraduate IO course since the 3rd edition. It is by far the best on the market, combining a healthy mix of rigorous IO theory with real-life applications and case studies.”

Middle East Technical University (Turkey) professor Oktay F. Tanrisever calls the book an excellent textbook for undergraduates, noting its “very-well structured and easily understandable introduction to the key issues of Industrial Organization.” He congratulated the co-authors for this edition of their “great work.”
