Professor of Economics Derek Jones is the editor of a special issue of the Journal of Participation and Employee Ownership and the author of its lead article, “Jaroslav Vanek, participation and labor management: an assessment including some bibliometric analysis.”
The article was recently published online in advance of the journal’s print issue, a Festschrift (a volume of articles, essays, etc., contributed by many authors in honor of or inspired by a colleague) to well-known economist and long-time Cornell University professor Jaroslav Vanek, who died in 2017.
Jones describes his article as an assessment of the impact of Vanek’s work in the fields of both participation and labor management and participation and employee ownership.
“Arguably his work has played a significant role in setting the stage for the development of adjacent fields in economics such as the new institutional economics. For an economist, his work has had an unusually strong impact on work outside of economics,” Jones wrote.
