An article co-authored by Professor of Mathematics Robert Kantrowitz ’82 was published in Contemporary Mathematics, a publication of the American Mathematical Society (AMS).
In the paper, “Regularity, Scrambling, and the Steady State for Stochastic Matrices,” Kantrowitz and co-authors Michael M. Neumann of Mississippi State University and Thomas J. Ransford of Université Laval address a classical problem in the theory of matrices, providing conditions on a stochastic matrix that are both necessary and sufficient for the existence of the steady state.
