Former Hamilton College men's basketball player Joseph Lin '15 (Palo Alto, Calif.) will play for the Fubon Braves in Taiwan's Super Basketball League (SBL).
Lin signed a two-year contract on August 7 according to an article that appeared in Apple Daily, a newspaper based in Hong Kong. The SBL is the top-tier men's semi-professional basketball league in Taiwan. Braves general manager Chris Tsai said that Lin is expected to join team practice later in August and will wear the No. 1 jersey.
"Our coaching staff think Lin is a smart player who learns things very quickly," Tsai said. "He also has great shooting touch and a positive attitude -- all of these are perfect traits for a point guard."
Lin was voted to the second team on the 2015 NESCAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Team back in March. The 6-foot, 1-inch guard was named the NESCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 12 after he handed out a team-record 16 assists on Jan. 9.
Lin led the conference with 6.4 assists per game, ranked second with 1.8 steals per game and 12th with 13.5 points in 22 games played. He was even better in NESCAC games as he ranked fifth with 15.0 points per game, a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio and a free-throw percentage of 85.2 percent against conference opponents. Lin finished his Hamilton career with 617 points, 291 assists and 85 steals.
