Sculptures by Rebecca Murtaugh, the John and Anne Fischer Professor of Fine Arts, are featured in Measures of Time at the Cohen Gallery East, located at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading, Pa. The solo exhibition opens Friday, Feb. 2, with an artist talk and reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery. Rebecca Murtaugh, work from "Measures of Time"The show runs through Sunday, March 10.

Among the pieces on display is a large floor installation titled “Reflective” and more than a dozen abstract sculptures. New works from Murtaugh’s Dietrich Inchworm Grant, including “The Unit: DiG Exhibition Vehicle,” are also featured in Measures of Time.

Murtaugh’s DiG project is an ongoing explorative sculpture undertaking rooted in art and science. For more than two years, she has foraged local native clays, from rich terracottas to high temperature porcelain clay bodies, from Central New York and Long Island. The sculptures exhibited investigate the attributes of the clays, some of which were formed 100 million years ago. The exhibition vehicle is a transportable, contained unit that references the pack in pack out process of digging from sites that are often off the beaten path.
