Lance Wilson '11 came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points as Hamilton College won the Third Annual Hamilton Tip-Off Tournament with a 92-76 victory against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at Scott Field House on Nov. 17.
Wilson handed out four assists and was 9 of 11 from the field. He made the all-tournament team and Harlee Wood '09 was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Wood scored 19 points, grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and dished out five assists. He played just 19 minutes before fouling out.
Ramunas Rozgys '09 chipped in 12 points off the bench and Kyle Dumas '09 added 11 points and six rebounds. Joe Manns '10 dropped in nine points.
Hamilton (2-0 overall) has won this tournament all three years. The Continentals shot 53.6 percent (30-56), including 40 percent (6-15) from three-point range. The teams combined for 57 fouls, 79 free throw attempts and 45 turnovers. Pitt-Bradford (1-1) committed 27 of those miscues, which may have been attributed to Hamilton's full-court pressure.
The Continentals held a slim 41-37 lead at the half, but Hamilton opened the second half on a 14-2 run for a 55-39 cushion. Wood scored six points during the run. Pitt-Bradford didn't get closer than 14 points the rest of the game.
The Continentals host Emmanuel College from Boston for a non-conference game on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m.
