Hamilton College finished sixth of 12 entries in the collegiate eights at the Head of the Genesee on the Genesee River in Rochester, N.Y., on Oct. 15.

Race conditions were cloudy with occasional heavy rain, and temperatures rising from the upper 40s early into the mid 50s later in the day. A strong 10 to 20-plus mph tailwind on the course was accompanied by a strong tail current.

The format consisted of a 5-kilometer head race in the morning, followed by a 1,500-meter sprint in the afternoon.  Each team's sprint time was multiplied by three and added to its time from the head race to determine the overall results.

Hamilton's collegiate eight crossed the line in 16 minutes, 34.57 seconds in the head race.  Hamilton's boat then covered the sprint course in 4:36.20, giving them a total time of 30:23.17.

Bucknell University's "A" entry won the collegiate eight with a total time of 29:18.63.  The University of Rochester was second in 29:31.10, Hobart College's "A" entry was third in 29:47.51, Hobart's "B" entry was fourth in 29:59.07 and Ithaca College's "A" entry was fifth in 29:59.08.

Jaime Leiva-Cabrera '14 was the coxswain.  The rest of the boat included Joe Ely '12 at stroke, Dylan Jackson '13 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Adam Minchew '12, Rafael De La Rosa '12, Chris Visentin '12, Aaron Whiteman '13, Max Geiduschek '14 and Matt Poterba '12.
