Hamilton College finished ninth of 14 boats in the open heavyweight championship eights at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on Oct. 27.

Weather conditions were cloudy with a mild breeze and temperatures in the 60s. The race course was 2.5 miles long with a minimal current.

Hamilton finished with a time of 14 minutes, 10.71 seconds in the championship eights. Drexel University won the event with a time of 12:27.34, Potomac Boat Club took second (12:54.32) and Saint Joseph's University was third (13:02.72).

Hamilton competed in three additional events including the novice fours, open fours and open club eights. Hamilton placed 20th out of 32 boats in the club eights with a time of 14:30.10. Drexel "A" took first place in 12:50.45, Potomac Boat Club was runner-up (13:08.53) and Drexel "B" finished third (13:13.86).

Hamilton earned fourth place out of 18 boats in the novice fours with a time of 15:46.36. Princeton University won the race in a time of 15:12.74, the University of Rochester was second (15:30.94) and La Salle University came in third place (15:31.71).

In the open fours, Hamilton placed 13th out of 43 boats in a time of 14:59.28. Merrimack College cruised to the finish in first place by more than 23 seconds with a time of 13:49.84 and Union College was second in 14:13.13.

Sawyer Konys '16 was coxswain for the championship eights.  The rest of the boat included Jake Wagner '15 at stroke, Dylan Jackson '13 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Alex Cates '15, Aaron Whiteman '13, Landon Morin '16, Grant Meglis '14, Simon Judd '13 and Jared Lippman '16.

Jack Cavanaugh '16 was coxswain for the novice fours. The boat included Marc Horschman '16 at stroke, Andrew Sprague '16 in the bow seat, Russ DeGrazia '15 in the 3-seat and Max Luthringer '16 in the 2-seat.

Jamie Leiva-Cabrera '14 was coxswain for the open fours. The boat included Whiteman at stroke, Morin in the bow seat, Jackson in the 3-seat and Meglis in the 2-seat.

Monica Gutierrez '15 was coxswain for the club eights. Wagner was at stroke and Andrew Szatkowski ‘16 was in the bow seat. The rest of the boat included the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Cates, Philip Ewing '15, Lippman, Patrick English '15, Judd and Horschman.

Hamilton has completed its fall rowing schedule.
