Hamilton College won the varsity eights and finished second in the varsity fours against Tufts University on the Malden River outside Boston on April 3.

Skies were sunny with temperatures in the 40s and calm conditions, building to a 10-to-15 mile-per-hour head wind during the later races.

Hamilton's varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course in 6 minutes, 47.1 seconds, and Tufts crossed the finish line in 7:11.6. Hamilton's varsity four finished with a time of 7:38.9, while Tufts finished in 7:31.6.

The varsity eight raced for a second time against Tulane University. Hamilton finished second in 7:08.8 behind Tulane in 6:52.7.

Jamie Leiva-Cabrera ’14 was coxswain for both varsity eight races. The rest of the boat included Jeff Cardoni ‘11 at stroke, Max Geiduschek ’14 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Chris Visentin ‘12, Aaron Whiteman ‘13, Joe Ely ‘12, Grant Meglis ‘14, Adam Minchew ’12 and Rafael De La Rosa ’12.

Jessica Griffith ’13 was coxswain for the varsity fours. The rest of the boat included Gibson Hoyt '12 at stroke, Simon Judd ’13 in the bow seat, Dylan Jackson ’13 in 3-seat and Matt Poterba ‘12 in 2-seat.

Hamilton hosts Rochester Institute of Technology in Rome, N.Y., on Saturday, April 9.
