Hamilton College's Peter Kosgei '11 (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys' School) earned 2010 New England Small College Athletic Conference Most Outstanding Performer honors for men's cross country based on his performance in the NESCAC championships at Hamilton on Oct. 30.
Kosgei also clinched a spot on the all-conference first team. He became the first runner -- male or female -- to capture four individual titles (2007 to 2010) in the 28-year history of the NESCAC cross country event with his winning time of 26:06.8 on Hamilton's 8-kilometer course. He finished more than 15 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the men's race.
The NESCAC championship was the 30th meet of Kosgei's Hamilton career, and he has finished first 26 times. The 2010 NCAA Division III Atlantic Region championships are next on the schedule for Kosgei and the Continentals. The meet will be held at Fortin Park in Oneonta, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 13.
