Hamilton College placed second at the 13-team Skidmore College Palamountain Invitational, which was held at McGregor Links Golf Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on April 12 and 13.

L.J. Scurfield '12 finished second out of 76 golfers with a 36-hole total of 152 on a course that measured more than 6,600 yards. Scurfield was just one shot behind the medalist from Skidmore. He carded a 78 on Sunday and followed that with a 2-over-par 74 on Monday.

Brad Roche '11 tied for fifth place with a two-day total of 156, including a 76 on the second day. Jeff Corbett '09 tied for 19th place at 162 (80-82) and Scott Blosser '12 recorded a pair of 85's on his way to 36th place with a 170 total.

Hamilton's total team score was 638. The top four Continentals' scores added up to 321 on Sunday and improved slightly to 317 on Monday. Skidmore -- ranked third in NCAA Division III -- finished with a 622.

Hamilton finished ahead of Farmingdale State, which has already qualified for the NCAA championships in May, and the Continentals posted their first head-to-head victories against Middlebury College and SUNY Delhi this season.

Hamilton travels to Rochester for the University of Rochester's Kravetz Invitational on April 17 and 18. Friday's round begins at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Country Club West Course, and Saturday's round begins at 9 a.m. at Irondequoit Country Club.
